I signed up for this service way back then when it was Grand Central (before google bought it). Grand Central did not have the SMS and international calling among other features. I like what google has done with the service. As with anything google, I think this service will only get better (and cheaper – especially international calling rates.

I think they are giving up on Wimax in the US. You will probably see 4G networks (LTE) before Wimax.

my boss just returned from europe with complaints about his high phone bill, with roaming costs and being charged 1 euro (~110 shillings) to send a text emssage from his phone, whereas an internatinal text from here would cost just 10/=

Wimax was supposed to be everywhere in 2009. At least that is what I expected from reading eweek and being steeped in telecom (i am uhh, a little salty, this was almost 9 years ago). Its becoming a reality in UG before it happens in Chicago. Granted that Clearwire has some areas covered, Its not happening fast enough in my opinion.

Its like you read my mind! My last bill had me throwing fits. I had to request for a a payment plan, there was no way I was going to pay that cash in one payment and feel sane. I as going to make them wait….my little victory…

what about Wimax? I thought it was supposed to be better….and cheaper.
