Seems like a really good idea in low cost housing…Its the brainchild of a South African architect and a builder. The World.org has a story on this.

I didn’t catch the name of the architect, please comment if you know more. Thanks!

Hi, MMA architects; http://www.mmaarch.co.za/home.asp
Using sandbags this verticle way is entirely unstable and dangerous. They must be used close or similar to original cal earth or classical corebelled dome/arch/conical tower principles or you will simply die under tons of sand. Used correctly they are strongest buildings known. Please use responsibly.
I agree with steve.
This isnt new and thats not important but it has been adapted in a very dangerous manner.
There is a reason earth bag buildings are curvy and ofter have deep walls. This high rise vertical structure with thinnish walls is scaring me.
