On Monday October 15th, bloggers will be writing about one topic for one day…the environment. My idea for this day is to appeal to my fellow African bloggers to help make this a fun day in the African blogosphere. The idea is to make it even more special by not only talking about the environment, but by doing something, one thing. So please,
- Plant a tree
- Take a picture or have someone take a picture of you planting the tree
- Please post on your blog
I will be checking the African blogs starting on Sunday, to compile a feature for global voices online.
- Please leave a comment if you will be participating (though you don’t have to, you can tag your post with Africa + Blog Action Day)
Pass the idea along. If we can get one blogger from each country featured on Afrigator, Kenyaunlimited, Amatomu, mashada blogs etc planting a tree, we would really appreciate it.
*Incentive for the first Kenyan blogger to commit to participating: Airtime for you purchased through mamamikes!

Juliana,
Thanks for this. I may not plant a tree, but will participate in the Blog Action Day by publishing a relevant article. The organisers couldnt have opted for a better theme!
Hi,
It does not matter to me that it is tree planting day or not. I do this as a hobby. In fact, I am now running a blog to this effect – http://www.greenlandsofafrica.blogspot.com in the period of two months now.
The point is, world climate has changed because of human activities. Natural resources have been depleted at an alarming rate. Tree cover, especially in vast farm lands has not been spared.
Bare lands are being eroded, silts end up in water bodies causing lose of life for marine lifes.
How beautiful it will be if we make everything possible to help increase the population of trees?
Maroa
Thanks Rafiq and Phil! I look forward to monday
Maroa, thanks for the link to your blog, let me hop on over and see it.
It was a joy for the kids at The Nest to participate in Blog Action Day. In fact, they were thrilled with the idea of planting “their own” tree and promised to take good care of it as it grows. Its amazing how kids develop respect for trees and take it very seriously. Just look at the expression on their faces… Thanks for the airtime!! We appreciate! Will get back to you by email on that.
