Once on a domestic flight here in the US, just as the plane landed, a lining cover just beneath the baggage compartment along the cabin wall came loose and fell down. So a bunch of us seated along that row had to hold it up in our hands as we taxid to the gate. Made for an interesting conversation piece!

Carol Dunham's account is freaking me out a little bit 'cause i'm scheduled to fly AF (for the first time ever) in Sept. from NBO to Atlanta via CDG. The duct tape part is really scary stuff. My trip to NBO will be on Northwest/KLM...i have always really enjoyed the KLM experience, but booked the AF return for the same reasons as afrom...better prices. Now my antenna will really be up there picking up all kinds of details! Makes for a fun flight, right?

What to say? You globe trotter you. I've heard nice things about AF but Carol Dunham's version of events makes me want to think twice for my trip back home. Keep us posted on how the TED conference goes. BTW, when does Virgin Atlantic begin flights to nairobi? Last time I took VA to LHR and then KQ to NBO and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Plus I got an exit row sit which is always a winner.

I hope it's not the pilot operating the nosecam as he may get distracted (like someone showing home movies to bemused house guests)

On KQ, take a poll on the source of all the condiments, jouce, botled water butter - these are things local companies should shoot for and come up with products that KQ can use. Last flight - juice was local, Msafiri (magazine) is done in UK, wine was South African, lunch was NAS (Naiorbi)

On May 20, 2007 I flew from Toronto to Barcelona, via Paris, on flight 353. I chose Air France because last year I flew to Paris on a 777. It was new and clean and spacious with individual video terminals for each passenger. I was so impressed I decided to forego my Air Canada points and book with Air France again this year. This year we flew on an Air France 747 which had duct tape on the arm (row 26 seat C) and duct tape along the wall where the overhead compartments join the wall (flight 353 on May 20th from Toronto). I looked out the window to make sure the wing wasn't duct taped to the fuselage!!. The toilets smelled disgusting, the chicken they served was poison, the seats were jammed into a small space, the customers treated like cattle, and generally it was a bad experience. Unfortunately I also booked on the same flight to go back to Paris this Friday, and...I convinced our friends to forego their Air Canada points to fly Air France as well. A bad decision!!! I would have written this directly to Air France but I could not find a link so I assume they don't want to hear from customers. I was so impressed last year I even joined their points club!!!

Quintuple drat! I wish I'd known KLM and AF were both Star Alliance! When I flew home in Dec I went with SwissAir cause of better ticket prices like you. But I also had the option of AF, which was similarly priced. Now I have two sets of FF miles (one from KLM/NW the other from SwissAir) which I can't use cause both are not enough to get me a ticket! But had I flown AF, I'd have accumulated enough to get a tikiti! You live and learn.

Furahia for those of us that can't be there to the max. And don't worry about the alama wa mshangaos. I know I'd use many if I was in your shoes.
